“Visualizing Eleven Dimensions” with Thad Roberts. A free lecture, Friday, October 2, 2009, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. University of Utah Student Union Building — Union Theatre, 200 Central Campus Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah

The cornerstone theories of physics, quantum mechanics and general relativity have proven wildly successful, yet the two theories remain fundamentally incompatible. At the heart of this incompatibility lies a question: “Are there more than four dimensions?” Modern string theorists are convinced that the answer to that question is yes, but they believe that it is impossible to envision the additional dimensions. They maintain that our mind’s eye will forever remain disconnected from Nature’s true form.

Join us to discover a geometric revolution that proves them wrong. Learn how to visualize the hidden dimensions of Nature, reconnect your intuition to the physical world, and open you mind to an all-encompassing map of reality that naturally integrates general relativity and quantum mechanics.

Our guide, Thad Roberts, invites you to this free lecture
in support of his upcoming book, “Einstein’s Intuition.”

It was very interesting to actually see people “getting it”. From the profound to the mundane, the group covered a vast array of topics. Thad’s book got a hard first look from the bunch. Their critiques have been very instrumental in shaping the book into something both the lay reader and professional scientist can both understand and enjoy.

Thank you all for your support. And, thank you Village Coffee for hosting this weekly get-together. Good bye coffee talk, we’ll miss you.

The lecture, entitled “Learning to Visualize Eleven Dimensions” was a great success, approximately fifty people attended. The event lasted for two and a half hours and was only cut short by the closing of the Salt Lake City Library where the presentation was held. The audience was receptive to qst both scientifically and philosophically. The unfortunately short question and answer session revealed a diverse attendance, from the professional scientist to the lay philosopher. Thad was greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm of the crowd. The first hour of the lecture is available in the galleries section on this site. (Lecture poster art by Pashaa.)
