What is Reality?

Join us as we get to the heart of what we believe to be true about physical reality—exploring the revolutions in scientific thought that have shaped the ontological foundation of modern science.

This event will be an interactive discussion focused on the question of what reality is, and how we might justify any of the possible answers. This event has been designed to take scientists and laypersons alike for an imaginative ride through the noble struggle of scientific investigation, and to equip them with the tools to trek that path of curiosity on their own. If you are interested in enriching your personal investigation of science, epistemology, ontology and metaphysics, this event is for you.

The speaker is the author of 'Einstein's Intuition' and subject of the New York Time's Best Seller 'Sex on the Moon'. He currently works as a philosopher of physics for a private think tank in Kentucky.

Subject Areas: History of Science, Philosophy of Physics, Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity.

Nuclear Power: the clean energy choice

Nuclear Power: the clean energy choice

nuclear power

Join us as we explore how nuclear fusion powers our sun (and all of the stars), seeds the Universe with all of its elements, and how nuclear fission in the Earth's core heats our planet, allowing our magnetic field to protect all of life on Earth.

From tiny atoms to subatomic particles we will learn the  difference between Nuclear Fusion and Nuclear Fission and learn why it matters.

We will see how electromagnetism is used to generate electricity, and we will compare Wind, Solar, Coal, Hydro, Gas and Nuclear technologies to assess their true “greenness”, and see how new breakthroughs could make the dream of unlimited clean energy a reality in our lifetime.

If you are Anti-nuclear please come and see if you feel the same way when you leave.

The speaker, Steve Desofi, was a programmer at the Indian Point Nuclear Reactor facility with a background in engineering and physics.
